“The Last of the
Barnstormers ” A Curtis Jenny is flying in the background
over a Virginia farm.
After W. W., I there were many former
Army aviators looking for employment. The aviation industry went into
a slump and ceased for a while to produce new aircraft. Happily for
these aviators the Army sold off many of its Curtis biplanes and these
were bought up by aviators. Soon displays of flying ability and acrobatics
were brought to americans all over the country. The Curtis Jenny popularized
flying just as Henry Ford had made owning a car possible for most
Americans.
